Short Bio, Academic, and Research Activities:

I am a medicinal chemist with basic training in Organic Synthesis with skills in computational chemistry and biological testing and interested in the design and development of new therapeutic agents by synthesis of heterocyclic scaffolds that may be substituted at various positions by different groups to create an array of compounds which may be screened for any particular pharmacological activity, in-silico, in-vitro or in-vivo with the aim of identifying a lead molecule which may be further optimized by synthetic modification. Diseases of interest are infectious diseases (Malaria and COVID-19) and Central Nervous System disorders (Depression and Alzheimers Disease).

Office/Room Number: CH112, Organic Research Lab

Area of Specialization: Medicinal Chemistry

Current Research Projects for Postgraduate Students:

(1) Synthesis and Computational Study of Optimized Pharmacophores of the Plasmodium falciparum Formate Nitrite Transporter (PfFNT) as potential antimalarial agents.
(2) Antimalaria Study of Novel Semi-synthetic Indole Derivatives Fused to Sterol Scaffolds.
(3) Synthesis and Computational Study of Fused Indenoimidazole Derivatives as Potential Plasmodium falciparum Trasnketolase Inhibitors – A Malaria Drug Discovery Effort.
(4) Computer aided design and synthesis of Sialylglycoconjugates of Biginelli adducts of 1-(3-hydroxyquinoxalin-2-yl)-3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one as COVID-19 Curatives
