Short Bio, Academic, and Research Activities:

Prof. (Mrs.) Grace Olufunmilayo Ogunlusi joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University as a Graduate Assistant in the year 2000. During her PhD study, she was privileged to have training experiences at the University of Botswana in 2007 and 2010 where she gained invaluable experiences in laboratory research and instrumentation techniques. She obtained her PhD from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2010 and became a professor in the field of Physical Chemistry in 2018.
Some of the courses taught by Prof. (Mrs.) Ogunlusi at undergraduate levels include Basic Physical Chemistry, Industrial Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Experimental Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Quantum Chemistry, Molecular Spectroscopy and Photochemistry. At the postgraduate level, she has taught Experimental Techniques in Physical Chemistry and Kinetics and Mechanisms of Inorganic Reactions, Photochemistry, courses among others.
Prof. (Mrs.) Ogunlusi’s research work focuses on the Synthesis of Inorganic Complexes, Reaction Kinetics and Mechanism of the reactions of Transition Metal (such as Fe(II), Co(III) and Ti(II)) Complexes; Surfactant Studies for product formulation; Reaction Mechanisms in Organized Medium (such as micelles) and Adsorption Studies. Some of her research outputs have contributed significantly to the understanding of the electron transfer reactions of iron(II) polypridyl complexes and their studies in micellar systems are particularly of importance in mimicking reactions in biological systems and also controlling some industrial chemical processes. Her continued efforts in the studies of surfactants have strengthened their applications to the industry and as clean–up agents for the environment. Some of her scholarly works are widely published by reputable international journal publishers such as Taylor & Francis, Springer Science, Wiley-Blackwell, Hindawi Publishing House, etc.
Prof. (Mrs.) Ogunlusi has won some research grant and fellowships to advance her research activities and has also supervised 8 Master’s students till date.
She is currently the Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office, OAU.

Office/Room Number: 220A

Area of Specialization: Reaction Kinetics, Surfactant studies, Adsorption.

Current Research Projects for Postgraduate Students:

  1. Study of the interaction between Acid Red 1 dye and cationic surfactants (CTAB and DTAB) in aqueous medium
    2. Investigation of the effects of non-ionic surfactants (tweens series) on the micellisation of sodium lauroyl sarcosinate using conductometric, viscometric and spectroscopic techniques
